New resource for entrepreneurs moving up
A business strategy company owned by a former Olympic swimmer has set up a new wing designed to help business owners keep their heads above water.
Ontru, which also specialises in people management and training, has launched e2e, designed to provide entrepreneurs with the support they need for success.
Now e2e will hold a breakfast meeting on Thursday to highlight how to make a new venture work well and grow.
Jenny Smatt, an owner of Ontru and with more than 15 years experience in the business world, said: “e2e is looking to provide formal learning and networking and celebration opportunities.
“Because I do strategic planning for businesses of all sizes and also training and development, I found a number of business owners were seeking our support in order to clarify the direction of their business.
“They also wanted to gain support from a peer-to-peer network blended with the formal learning.”
The meeting will be held at Harbourfront restaurant at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute on East Broadway between 8.30am and 10.30am.
Ms Smatt, who swam for Bermuda at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, said: “We think there is a need. We’ve had a good response — as it’s a new concept, it’s a matter of highlighting there is an opportunity to realise essentially a new level of business success and achieving that success personally and professionally.
“When entrepreneurs get together there is a mindset and it’s a powerful collaboration where they share information.”
Ms Smatt added the breakfast meeting would be particularly useful for the entrepreneur who is making money — but is under stress and needs to refocus their efforts.
She explained: “The profile of entrepreneurs who will benefit are those who are feeling overwhelmed — they are one year or two years into business and making money, but want to shift from working in the business to working on the business.
“They are enthusiastic, but they are exposed and they want to make a sustainable model moving forward.”
Ms Smatt said typical attendees would include business owners with multiple staff and solo operators from a variety of sectors, including retail, service industries, professional services and the beauty business.
She added: “It’s for entrepreneurs and business owners who really want to move on to the next level and achieve success. It really does span the full spectrum.”
