Raynor given top honour
Donna Raynor, the president of the Bermuda National Athletics Association, has been selected as a council member for the International Athletics Foundation for the next four years.
Raynor was recommended to the Foundation by Sebastian Coe, the president of the IAAF and IAF.
“This is such an honour and I’m very excited and touched to have been selected,” she said. “I received the correspondence yesterday.”
The primary mission and objectives of the Foundation is to charitably assist the IAAF, the world governing body for athletics, and its affiliated national governing bodies.
The Foundation strives to aid athletes, administrators, coaches and national athletics federations.
Some of its activities include educational courses, seminars, conferences to promote a better knowledge of the sport.
The Foundation has the personal support of Prince Albert of Monaco, who also acts as the Foundation’s honorary president. The Foundation meets once a year and consists of 12 people, including well-known pole vaulter Sergey Bubka.
