A 16-year-old motorcyclist remained in a “critical but stable condition” in the hospital’s intensive care unit yesterday.

The female teenager was injured on Friday evening when her auxiliary cycle went over an embankment on South Road, Paget, near Southcote Road, at around 7.55pm.

A police spokesman said her 16-year-old pillion passenger was also hurt and both women, said to be from Pembroke, were taken to hospital by ambulance.

He added: “The rider was admitted to the intensive care unit and initially listed in critical but stable condition.

“The pillion passenger was treated at the hospital for less serious injuries and an update on her condition will be provided in due course.

“However, at last check this morning the 16-year-old rider remained in critical but stable condition in the intensive care unit.”

The spokesman added that a 58-year-old man injured in a collision earlier on Friday also remained in a critical but stable condition in the ICU.

The rider, believed to be from Paget, was taken to hospital for treatment after his motorcycle collided with a truck on Wilkinson Avenue in Hamilton Parish at around 2.30pm.

The injuries of a 37-year-old man, hurt when his motorcycle struck a wall, are now “not believed to be life-threatening”, the spokesman said.

The man, said to be from Hamilton Parish, was taken to hospital with “serious injuries” after the accident on North Shore Road near Limehouse Lane around 4.40pm on Friday.

The spokesman added that a “further update on his condition will be provided in due course”.
