Police have this morning launched a major investigation after the body of a young woman was found dead in her apartment.

Detectives discovered the body of 25-year-old Ruth Binns at her home in Camp Hill Road, Southampton.

A Police spokesman said: “We received a call at 8.59am that a woman’s lifeless body was found in a non-responsive state at Camp Hill Road in Southampton.

“At this point we have officers from different departments in the area and foul play has not been ruled out.”

This morning officers in white forensic suits could be seen around the property which was sealed off by Police.

This afternoon CellurlarOne COO Michael Leverock said: "It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of one of our employees who died suddenly on Monday evening. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at CellularOne are with the employee's family during this difficult time.

"Due to the on-going Police investigation into the employee's death, we cannot comment further at this time.''

A neighbour said: “I’ve been living in this neighbourhood for 25 years and we’ve never had anything like this happen round here before.

“But sometimes if you’re in a neighbourhood we don’t even know what’s going on.”

Ms Binns, who was also known as Ruth Dill, was a former pupil of Bermuda Institute in Southampton.

Sheila Holder, who was principal at the school while Ms Binns was a pupil and is now superintendent of education, described her as a “bright young lady”.

“She liked having fun. She had some very good friends here,” said Mrs. Holder.

“The Bermuda Institute family want to give their heartfelt condolences to the family. It is a very sad time for them.”
