The Salvation Army in Bermuda will hold its 2017 Congress from next Thursday.

Special guests will be Colonel Lee Graves and his wife Deborah Graves, Chief Secretary and Secretary for Women’s Ministries, and the Music and Gospel Arts team from Toronto, Canada.

Majors Frank and Rita Pittman will be in support along with other local leaders.

The theme, “Harmony in one Accord”, refers to the musical ministries of the army and also reflects the need for members to build and renew their spiritual lives in order to effectively minister to their fellow man.

Colonel Lee Graves is the Chief Secretary of the Canada and Bermuda Territory.

According to a press release from the Salvation Army, he is a gifted speaker who has preached in the streets and in places like Nathan Square, Toronto, from a young age.

He and his wife Deborah have been ordained officers of the Salvation Army for 34 years, and have served in a number of capacities.

Now second in Command for the Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda, the Colonels have expressed a great passion for the people served from the front lines.

Mr Pittman said: “The programme for this Congress weekend is diverse. We will be taking the message to the streets in a series of open air street meetings on Sunday afternoon and look forward to meeting new neighbours.”

Events will include a coffee house style worship “jam” session, breakfast Bible study Saturday morning, multipraise concert and more formal Sunday morning worship setting.

The Music and Gospel Arts team will hold workshops for a number of musical groups throughout the week, culminating in a free concert next Saturday at 7pm. The MAGA team will also be ministering throughout the weekend along with our Divisional Band and Congress Chorus.

It runs from next Thursday until Sunday, November 5. Call 292-0601 or any Salvation Army centre for further information.
