Growing yoga business opens second studio

A yoga studio will open its doors to a second location on Union Street next week.

Kinetix, the original studio, on Berkeley Road, started three years ago and since then has seen massive growth within the business, especially in the art called aerial yoga.

This is a type of yoga which uses a hammock or swing to allow students to perform postures that they may not ordinarily be able to attempt on the yoga mat.

Kinetix is believed to be the only certified movement, yoga, gymnastics and aerial arts studio in Bermuda dedicated just to children, teens, families and those with special needs.

The new studio, which is geared to adults who are serious about the art, will launch next Monday.

It will have higher ceilings that give enough space and flexibility to perform movements more freely.

Kallie Marcus, owner of Kinetix said: “We are launching our second location with higher ceilings, now that people are taking aerial yoga more seriously. We have decided to move into a space where the ceilings reach 20 feet for the higher climbs and drops.”

Ms Marcus is very excited about this new development as she has always had a passion for the art.

“Yoga is not just on the mat, but a way of life, it is in everything we do, from the way we talk, walk and breathe,” she said.

Prior to being a mother to newborn, she decided to clear clutter, freeing her physical space which she believes will bring new energy for her baby.

“Yoga is all about clearing the space, when you declutter your space your mind will also declutter,” she said.

This is where her idea for a pop-up purge and thrift event came to light.

Individuals who want to sell and get rid of items for which they no longer have a need have joined her on the journey to declutter their space and bring in new energy.

Ms Marcus plans to have more events in the future, but at the moment she is has not decided on dates.

The new studio will have a trial class next Monday.
