Local doctor joins BVI hurricane relief

Roslyn Bascombe-Adams, Bermuda Hospitals Board’s director of emergency and hyperbaric services, is to join the hurricane relief effort in the British Virgin Islands at the request of the Pan American Health Organisation and the World Health Organisation.
Dr Bascombe-Adams is a member of the Regional Emergency Medical Team of Paho and a certified Paho Disaster Instructor. She is also the chairwoman of BHB’s disaster management and response committee — and represents the hospital on the Emergency Measures Organisation.
Dr Bascome-Adams leads the Paho mass casualty management system training course for first responders in Bermuda.
She is now on a two-week secondment as part of the Paho/Who Regional Emergency Medical Team in BVI.
