Things got tighter at the top of the Mixed Classic League as A&J Sportscards beat Us Until 13-7.

Betty Lespere led Us Until with the women's third series of 584 and top game of 236. For the Sportscards, Hilton Hayward bowled a 597 series and 236 game for third-place honours, while Kathy Christopher supported with the women's second high series of 585.

Amflites took full advantage of a short-handed Flagler Street Gang and went home with a 19-1 victory. Richard Zuill and Joe Correia were the driving force for Amflites with Zuill bowling the high series 620 and second high game 248 while Correia was close behind with a 605 second high series, which included the top game of 267.

On the distaff side of the team Merle Robinson really got going and added the women's second high game of 224 to the cause. For the Gang, it was Miles Smith with a top 567 series.

Four Star Pizza poured the sauce on Perfect Combination for a 161 -31 win as Jim Godwin the led way with a 567 series and Marie Frith supported with a 566 for the women. Roger Raynor had a 575 series for the losers.

Pro Staff and East End Asphalt ended the night with the former winning 14-6.

Leading the winners was Millie Waldron with the top women's series of 623 and third hiugh game of 216.

Completing the night's competition, Get Togethers walked over New Beginnings 15-5 as Dudley Browne had a 563 series.

SOFTBALL SOF Simon Butterfield and Shawn Bleeker had perfect three-for-threes as Anfossi & Butterfield edged by Artic 17-16 in Commercial League action on Thursday night at Bernard Park.

John Kook and Richard Drennan both had a perfect four-for-four for the losers as Tully was the winning pitcherand Steve Hawdon the loser.

The second match of the night saw Elbow Beach romp to a comfortable 23-11 win over RIM as El James and Tum Puster went three-for-four for the winners and Chris Jackson and Al McKinnon both four-for-five for the losers. Mark Conklin was the winning pitcher and Ken McDonald the loser.

Just one run was the difference in the other match as Powers Court edged by Docksiders 13-12 with Nick Faulkner pacing the winners with his three-for-four and Fred Savage supporting with two-for-three. Brett Kohli went four-for-five and John Brossard three-for-four for the losers.
