Police believe one man could be responsible for four burglaries which took place while people were in the residences.

The first incident happened on November 22 when a man broke into a Fairmont Hamilton Princess room. He was confronted by a 67-year-old tourist, who was slightly injured in the scuffle, before running off.

The other three burglaries took place on the night of December 3, in each instance a man broke into a home and was confronted by someone living there. No one was injured in any of the burglaries.

The first happened on Mount Hill followed by one on Mount Langton Crescent, both in Pembroke, while the third burglary happened on Friswells Road, Devonshire. During the last two incidents the burglar had a bladed article.

Yesterday, Police said the suspect is believed to be a light-skinned male, about 5ft 9in to 6ft and of slim build. Police believe he is in his late teens or early 20s.

A Police spokesman said that despite the recent spate of burglaries while people are home the majority of burglaries reported involve unoccupied homes.

The spokesman said Police are working to solve all burglaries and added that currently three men are standing trials for five burglaries.

The spokesman said: “The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the public to remain vigilant regarding burglaries. All residents should make sure windows and doors are locked before leaving their homes unattended, even for short periods of time. Also, before retiring to bed at night all windows and doors should be locked with any valuables secured out of sight. Police are still investigating the armed burglary on South Road Monday night.

Four men, two brandishing guns, broke into the Southampton residence. Nothing was taken and the occupant was not injured.
