Homer's Cafe opens at Masterworks
Art gallery goers will be able to enjoy a cup of tea or a sandwich at their leisure following the opening of a new cafe at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art this week.‘Homer’s Cafe’, named after Winslow Homer, one of the most famous painters in the museum’s Bermudiana Collection, was officially launched at the gallery next to Camden in the Botanical Gardens yesterday. The cafe will be run by The Flying Chef and will serve a selection of baked goods, sandwiches, wraps, paninis, soups, salads, quiche, and even a traditional afternoon tea on proper china during the week.Picnic baskets can be ordered in advance for lunch in the park, while drinks, coffee and teas will also be served. In the summer months there will be outdoor terraced seating under the Lily Pergola and there is full access to the cafe lounge, a converted water tank fitted with couches and chairs which makes a comfortable setting for a quiet coffee or to read the newspaper.Office manager Suzie Hooper, who oversaw the opening of the cafe, said: “We know that having a cafe will add an extra dimension to our visitor’s experience and we are so thrilled to have the Flying Chef on board.“They did a trial run during our Christmas Arts for All and it was very successful. We are very excited to open the doors and fill the cafe with our visitors and members and their families.”The cafe will be open from Monday to Saturday between 10.30am and 4pm.
