Larry Lombardo is an executive vice president of customer relations, ACE Bermuda. He is also president of Freisenbruch-Meyer Insurance Limited.
How do you invest? (Stocks, bonds, mutual funds, indices, currency, commodities, property, art, a mix, etc.)
I have a very mixed portfolio via a few mutual fund managers, a hedge fund manager and the odd personal deal.
What and when was your first ever investment?
My first home purchase in 1982
Do you do your own investing?
Yes, on occasion.
What was the best (most successful) investment you ever made?
Bermuda Real Estate and a local business. (Both to be outdone by investing in both my daughters' higher education).
None of the above involved professional money managers or stock brokers.
What was the worst (least successful) investment you ever made?
My golf swing and pension fund.
What was the longest investment you ever made?
ACE stock which is ongoing.
What was the shortest investment you ever made?
Double or nothing on the 18th tee box. Otherwise I hold things long term.
Biggest missed opportunity?
The last bull market on Wall Street.
What would you never invest in?
Unsolicited calls from stock brokers with a hot tip.
