ILS conference reveals speakers
The role insurance-linked securities can play in the protection and redistribution of cybersecurity risk will be among topics discussed at the ILS Bermuda Convergence 2017 event in October.
One of the guest speakers is Rick Welsh, chief executive officer of Sciemus Ltd, and he will look at the cybersphere and distinction between traditional and non-traditional cyber-risk; how that distinction creates an approach to modelling and pricing “that fuses technical cybersecurity expertise with actuarial and statistical science to deliver a mechanism for the transfer of cyber-risk to capital markets”.
Cyberinsurance will be the topic of discussion for another of the speakers, Tom Johansmeyer, assistant vice-president at PCS. His presentation is on why cyber ILWs make a difference. He will look at the argument that Cyber ILWs could help drive in fresh capital, support flexible risk and capital management, and add speed to the decision making process.
Two speakers from KPMG Germany, Elena Nagy and Philipp Herr, will explore the practical challenges in applying fair value concepts to ILS.
Another speaker is Thomas Deinet, of the Hedge Fund Standards Board. He will look at the insurance open protocol solution that enables investors to aggregate and analyse risk taking across their entire portfolios, including ILS exposures.
While Aaron Kosch, director and consulting actuary at ILS Group, will be taking a look at the future of ILS, particularly with independent modelling for non-catastrophe issuances.
Now in its fifth year, the conference takes place on October 18 and 19.
