The young community will have a chance to celebrate Heroes Day Weekend with the second annual Kiddie Carnival.

The festival takes place today for families and children of primary school age, and is an opportunity for them to get involved with the carnival festivities in a safe and age-appropriate way.

Kiddie Carnival kicks off at noon with a Parade — boys and girls dressed in costumes can meet in Bulls Head parking lot.

The parade will move through Dundonald Street into Victoria Park, where participants will be met with free lunch, snacks, drinks, and unlimited rides.

Music will be provided by DJ Suri and DJ Coolie, and families can expect fun castles, obstacle courses, and other inflatable rides.

“We want families to come and enjoy the afternoon,” said director Jason Sukdeo. “It’s something we definitely enjoy putting on — we love seeing smiles on the kids’ faces.”

Carnival costumes are sold at Nova Mas International and Ultimate Treasure, and must be bought ahead of time to participate in the parade. For families still wishing to enjoy the festivities, wristbands that grant unlimited rides can be bought at the door for $20.

High school students looking for the Carnival experience can attend the “Escape Bermuda” paint party at White’s Island today from 7pm to midnight.

Non-alcoholic beverages and transportation will be provided. Boats will leave Albuoy’s Point at 7pm and continue every half-hour until 9.30pm, before returning to the mainland from 11.30pm to 1am.

Jonari Smith, host of the party, said: “It’s a fun, safe environment with non-alcoholic beverages and a canteen ready to spread the carnival spirit.”
