A Paget man this morning admitted stealing more than $100 of beauty supplies from a Hamilton pharmacy.

Albert Wilson, 57, pleaded guilty to one count of theft in connection to the incident, which took place on March 13.

The court heard that at around 11.15am that day, staff at the Woodbourne Chemist and Pharmacy noticed Wilson and a woman enter the store with a black shoulder bag and go to the cosmetics isle.

While there, Wilson was seen placing several items into the bag, before the pair walked out of the store without paying.

Staff at the store contacted police, providing them with a description of the suspects and their car, and a short while later officers on mobile patrol spotted the car on Church Street.

The officers spotted Wilson in the back seat with the black bag in his lap, but while talking to officers he placed it on the floor in front of him.

The bag was later searched and found to contain moisturisers, facial cleansing pads and other items that had been stolen from the pharmacy, with an estimated total value of $112.

Appearing in Magistrates’ Court, Wilson apologised for the incident, saying he had been drinking and his actions were entirely out of character.

Wilson was bailed until next Friday, when the matter is expected to return to Magistrates’ Court.
