the Hamilton Market Place on Sunday.
Salvation Army Shelter resident Albert Macdonald Rogers, 50, was seen by the manager crawling on the floor of the store's liquor section at 2.45 p.m.
When Rogers was confronted, he was found to have two bottles of Bacardi rum in his socks, and when he ran to the exit and scuffled with store employees, two bottles of Cockspur rum fell out of his pants and smashed.
Acting Senior Magistrate, Edward King said he had done a lot of "housekeeping work'' last time Rogers was before him, and fined him the maximum of $250 rather than sending him to prison.
