Nicole aftermath: open and closed
All schools and Government offices will remain closed today, however some businesses will be open.
During the course of the day The Royal Gazette will be posting information about which stores, firms and establishments are open, and which will be closed.
• Saltus Grammar School will reopen on Monday, however a major girl’s football tournament it was due to host tomorrow has been cancelled due to uncertainty over flight availability.
• National Museum of Bermuda will open tomorrow.
• Bermuda College will resume normal business operations and all classes on Monday.
• The National Sports Centre will reopen as normal tomorrow.
• Somersfield Academy will be open on Monday, after checks showed the building is safe.
• Coco Reef Bermuda is operating as usual after escaping any damage.
• Freisenbruch-Meyer Group’s offices are open for business today and tomorrow from 9am to 5pm. If you would like to report a claim, call 296-3600, e-mail claims@fmgroup.bm.
• Colonial is open for business as normal today.
• The City Arts Festival scheduled for tomorrow is postponed until Saturday, November 19, at Queen Elizabeth Park, from 2pm to 8pm.
• Most restaurants in Dockyard were open for breakfast, and are open for lunch and dinner. Shops are opening at their discretion after assessing their damage.
• Argus offices opened at 9am and will remain open until 5pm.
• All RUBiS service stations are open with the exception of the Causeway station.
• The aquarium and the museum sections of the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo were open at 9am this morning.
• The Digicel store and the BTC stores in Hamilton will open their doors at 11am this morning for normal trading.
• HSBC’s branch network will resume normal operations today at noon.
• The Mount St Agnes Bazaar will open tomorrow, Saturday October 15, between 10am to 10pm,
• The Washington Mall is open for business as usual; the restaurants are ready to serve hot meals and for those needing to shop, the retail shops are open.
• The Bermuda SPCA remains closed due to no electricity and downed trees. In an emergency please call the Hamilton Police Station on 295-0011 and ask to have the animal wardens paged.
• The Adult and Youth Libraries will be closed tomorrow. The Adult Library will re-open on Monday at 8.30am and the Youth Library will re-open on Tuesday at 9am.
• The Department of Public Transportation has decided to suspend bus service on the following routes until further notice — Route 1 from Hamilton to St. George’s via Tuckers Town; Route 8C which services Cedar Hill.
“Hurricane-related safety issues have precluded the operation of these two routes at this time, but the DPT has advised that all other bus services will return to normal as of Saturday,” said a Department statement.
