Path to deeper spiritual life sparked interest in energy healing

Deryn Siggins was an independent businesswoman, wife and mother when she first became interested in energy healing 14 years ago. She said the interest was sparked as she began to lead a more spiritual life.

"I actually started my training about seven years ago, taking different courses," she said. " I am trained as a Rohun therapist, Yhandi facilitator, holistic healing practitioner, Inner Sanctuary instructor and also perform reiki."

You might think after seven years of training she was content with her mastery of several healing techniques, but she's not satisfied. "I am still continuing my training to introduce more healing modalities to my practice," she said.

Although she loves her healing work she continues to run her own travel agency. "I only offer healing on a part-time basis at the moment,' she said. She's taught 15 students on the Inner Sanctuary course this year and has a few dozen clients for energy treatments.

So how does she juggle her responsibilities of work and home life with her spiritual and energy work? With relative ease.

"I start my day with my meditation practice and try to practice the spiritual principles I have been taught in the office and at home," said Ms Siggins.

" As a mother I have taught my children how to meditate.

"My son loves meditation music and my daughter loves crystals and laying on the massage table for a healing. The day-to-day stresses of life are my test to see how well I am doing with my spiritual practice. I have to keep remembering life is one day at a time and it is progress and not perfection," she added.

"I live by a lot of slogans and old adages with whatever I do in life that still small voice within is there to remind me the times I don't pay attention are my lessons to learn."
