Beer vs wine coolers
Having a beer sounds like a far more alcoholic activity than having a wine cooler, but Hannah Simpson, Clinical Dietitian at KEMH said she believes having a light beer is better than having a wine cooler.Wine coolers, while having lower alcohol content than regular beer, have more sugar. Wine coolers have less than ten percent alcohol, typically they range between six and four percent. But light beers can be even lower and their sugar content is also low. In fact according to online independent registered dietitian Alyse Levine, Beck’s Light has only 64 calories and 2.3 percent alcohol in a 12-ounce serving.By comparison Seagram’s are among the lowest caloric wine coolers with 180-calories in a 12 ounce serving. That’s almost the equal to having three Beck’s Light.Be careful of your alcohol intake at all times.“Stay within the safe alcohol limit,” said Ms Simpson. “Men should not go beyond three to four units a day (light beer is one unit, a regular beer is 1.7 units) and women not beyond two to three units a day.“No one should drink every day,” she added. “ And no one should drink and ride or drive and that includes operating boats.”
