The In Motion School of Dance will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a series of dance routines that will be sure to stop the presses. This year’s show, ‘In The News!’, kicks off on May 4 and will be a dance tribute to the news, events and people that shape our world.“This is our 15th showcase and we feel like they’ve only gotten better as time has gone on,” said Lizz Pimentel, owner and Director of the In Motion School of Dance.“We have added more elements every year and this year we have bigger set pieces, more dynamic staging, and some of the best choreography that we’ve seen on the local stage.”This is In Motion’s eighth themed show and past themed shows such as ‘Dance Radio’, and ‘On Broadway’ were a huge success. The themed shows allow their dancers to show off their skills in a theatrical and fun way.“When we started we weren’t sure how people would react to a themed show but our success has seen other local dance schools using the idea for their shows,” said Ms Pimentel.Ms Pimentel praised her young dancers saying some of them put in more than 20 hours a week in training and still managed to keep up with their schoolwork.“We feel that what we are doing is vital to Bermuda right now,” she said. “With so much press about antisocial behaviour in our youth we feel that providing a positive and disciplined environment is important to our future.”This year, 15 In Motion dance students performed at Walt Disney World in Orlando, and junior and senior dancers also travelled overseas to take dance workshops.‘In the News’ runs from May 4 to May 12 at the City Hall Theatre. Tickets are $69 for patrons, $39 for adults and $29 for students. They are available online at www.ptix.bm or at the City Hall Box Office one hour before showtime.
