It's game on for In Motion dancers
The In Motion School of Dance hopes to wow audiences when its students take to the stage this week. The 14th Annual Dance Showcase Showdown is a take on game shows, reality competitions, and the highs and lows that come with winning or losing.“In Motion has always been known for presenting professional and exciting performances, and we felt that a themed show would allow us to take our shows one step further,” said director and owner, Lizz Pimentel.“Themed dances allow the dancers to have a concept in their mind; an emotion or memory that they can use during their piece. In Motion was the first to feature themed shows and we have had great adventures travelling through time, taking a trip around the world, and even a stop under the big top! This year’s show was a lot of fun to put together because there was such a large number of game shows that people know and love.”Dancers range from age two to adult. Students and teachers have been rehearsing for months to put the show together. “We are really lucky to have so many great students who have put in so much effort to make this show a success,” said Mrs Pimentel. “Our junior and senior company members give up their weekends and vacations to dance, and their hard work is on display on stage. These kids are doing something positive in a time when there seems to be so much negativity on the Island and throughout the world.”Dance styles range from classical and contemporary ballet, to fast and furious jazz and the rhythmic beat of tap. “Our choreographers really challenged the students this year and we are thrilled to have such dynamic choreography on display. No matter what your favourite style of music you are sure to find something you love in this show,” said Mrs Pimentel.Patron tickets are $65, adult tickets are $39 and student tickets are $29.
