BMDS honours Duncan with performances
The Bermuda Musical & Dramatic Society (BMDS) is to honour the late Bill Duncan with a series of musical performances this week. The Daylesford Singers are one of several musical groups that will perform a collection of Mr Duncan’s favourite pieces.“If you didn’t know Bill Duncan then certainly you have heard of him,” said BMDS music chair Christopher Edwards.“He was a talented organist, pianist, music teacher and friend to many. He came to Bermuda in 1969 and made the Island his home. He taught at Saltus Grammar School and privately, was the organist at St John’s and at the Cathedral of St Theresa. [He was] a dear friend and mentor to many of his students and congregation. It is in this spirit that BMDS is presenting ‘An Evening with Bill’.” There will be various instrumental performances, solos and duets, singing and a dramatic monologue all interspersed with memories of Mr Duncan contributed by his friends, colleagues and students. This also marks the first all-musical performance at the Daylesford Theatre in more than a year.‘An Evening with Bill’ will be held tomorrow through Saturday at the Daylesford Theatre at 8pm. Tickets, $25, are available at www.bmds.bm. Tickets are also available from the Daylesford Box Office and on 292-0848 between 5.30pm and 7pm today and from 7pm tomorrow through Saturday.
