Gospel artist Tricray Astwood is aiming to bring all churches together with a Worshippers Unite Concert on February 4 at Heritage Worship Centre.Mr Astwood and his band, Sia Spence and Cindy Smith, along with Anointed for Praise Dancers from the New Creation Worship Centre, will be the feature artists in what promises to be an exciting gospel concert starting at 7.30pm.“We have been planning this since September and what excites me about it is the songs that we have selected, not just my songs,” said Mr Astwood, whose first album, ‘Let Judah Reign’ was released in August 2010.“We’ll be doing a lot of favourite praise and worship songs that people across every denomination have enjoyed over the years.“This is what Worshippers Unite is all about, about pulling down denominational barriers within our churches and just coming together for the one common goal of giving God glory in worship and praise.“I have people from the New Testament churches, non-denomination faiths and Adventists, so it is well represented.”The hall seats 1,000 people and Mr Astwood is hoping to fill the venue.“We’re not going to do the standard pre-show, but will actually do something fun so people may want to get there on time, it’s going to be very exciting,” promised Mr Astwood.“This is my first solo effort. Last time I did it with Gina Spence and it was a huge success. That was December 2010.“Gina’s focus when she does help people is to train them up and let them go, so this is, I guess, the letting-go stage and now I’m going to do what I learned from her.“This concert is focused more about praise and worship in general, not just me promoting my music, whereas the last time I had just released my album.“We will be doing songs from my album but will be doing a lot of other stuff, too. I would love to see Worshippers Unite happen once a quarter, highlighting worship leaders in general.”Admission for the concert is $30 ($60 for patrons). Proceeds from the concert will aid Mr Astwood, who will be going on a church tour in the US in the spring for about three months with a band.“I have landed a booking agent in the States and will be based in Orlando and could also include Atlanta and Texas,” he said.“I’m really excited about it. It’s a church tour just to get my feet wet. That’s my target market and is the best place to start.”Mr Astwood is considering doing a second album in 2013.“Maybe mid-2013 because it takes a lot work, financing and planning, to do it. It takes six months to a year to do it if you are independent,” he explained.Tickets for the Worshippers Unite Concert are available at Heritage Book Store, Music Box and the Christian Book Store.
