Award-winning cameraman will showcase Bermuda sea glass tonight
An Emmy Award-winning cameraman will tonight present a slideshow on the history of Bermuda’s sea glass.The slideshow is a promotion for the documentary Kevin Lombard and his wife Judith Piaxao are now making.The pair, who are Masterworks’ artists-in-residence, are here until July.Mr Lombard has won Emmys for his camera work on television programmes such as ‘Reading Rainbow’.He is also known for his fashion cinematography.Jeweller Ms Piaxao produces chandeliers and other decorative items out of sea glass. They have also created an education programme for veterans called Wounded Marine Careers Foundation. It trains war veterans in filmmaking, giving them new job skills, and an outlet to express their emotions.The pair will discuss their work and their plans while in Bermuda at the slideshow. While here, Ms Piaxao will hold an exhibit of her jewellery and the pair will screen their documentary.They will also hold regular jewellery-making “salons” from their studio at Buckingham House in St George. The next salon takes place on May 5 from 2pm to 8pm.Tonight’s event begins at 5.30pm at Masterworks.
