Summer fun
Desmond Crockwell is launching a summer programme that’s easy on the wallet and offers youngsters plenty of fun.His plan is for the Futuristic Summer Camp to promote “social responsibility and development of character”.The programme runs from July 2 to August 31, at a cost of $90 a week. There are special rates for families with more than one child enrolled.Said Mr Crockwell: “Other than Government-run summer programmes, it’s the lowest priced camp for people this summer.“We had to take into consideration these economic times and we knew that not everyone could afford to pay $150 a week, so we wanted to get under that for the people that are struggling.”He said the camp would have different themes insects and animals might be the topic one week; horticulture and the environment the next. The camp wasn’t just about having fun, but giving the Island’s youth a well rounded experience, Mr Crockwell said.“We want parents to know their children are safe. [Children] will have fun, we can guarantee that, but they will have some sort of activities in team work because we also have a sports day.“We want to see parental involvement because that will encourage generational cooperation.”The camp will take place at Petra Academy in Hamilton Parish.
