Lift your voice up for a spiritual celebration in the park
The City of Hamilton promises an uplifting spiritual celebration with their next Summer Sundays in the Park concert series. The gospel-themed Lift Your Voice will be held in Victoria Park on August 5.On offer are performances by live bands, choirs, liturgical dancers and gospel singers including United Tehilla, Geneman, DJ Missian, Toni Robinson, Wesley (Big Snipes) Smith and Patricia O’Connor.“We have several good acts,” said Thomas Lightbourne, events coordinator. “Our lovely master of ceremonies will be radio personality Patrina (Power Girl) O’Connor. She will be getting everyone involved in the activity and pumping up the event.”He said many people come to the concert after church and spend the rest of the afternoon enjoying the park. It is great for families because there is plenty on offer for young children including face painting, cotton candy and fun castles. There will also be a food court selling everything from doughnuts and hot dogs, to snowballs.“It is a great event to come out to,” said Mr Lightbourne. “The gospel concert is usually one of the most popular concerts in the series. I think last year around 500 people came out to our Summer Sundays gospel concert. Everyone loves gospel.”Mr Lightbourne said it was also a nice way to wind down after the long Cup Match holiday, recharge and be ready to go back to work on Monday morning.Admission is free to the concert, which runs from 3pm to 8pm.
