A new coffee table book published in honour of Masterworks’ 25th anniversary will be available for purchase next month.‘Masterworks 25’ contains images of artwork in the Paget museum’s collection.“In terms of weight, volume and size it is a real coffee book,” said Masterworks founder Tom Butterfield. “It is a good long study. It takes some time to get through it. It is beautifully done, and printed in China.”The book is a culmination of 25 years of Masterworks collecting Bermuda-related art. Its content reflects about 25 percent of what is in the museum collection.Masterworks last put out a book in celebration of its seventh anniversary, when the collection was considerably smaller.Rosemary Jones of Brimstone Media, Masterworks curator, Elise Outerbridge and photographer Antoine Hunt were all involved in the book’s production.“The images and photographs look so great,” said Mr Butterfield. “They are just so clean, clear and crisp. Some of the smaller works sometimes get lost when put on the wall with larger works. In this book they are all equal.”About 2,500 copies of the last book sold out almost immediately. This time they have doubled their printing run.Said Mr Butterfield: “We wanted to have it around as an ambassador for a couple of years so people can take away with them as a souvenir or have it in their library at home. We will be selling ‘Masterworks 25’ before Christmas at $100 and after that it will go up to $125.”He said he was very proud of the book and was sure it would become a collector’s item.To order a copy telephone 299-4000 or register at the museum.Useful website: www.bermudamasterworks.com.
