A school is launching a one-week auction of “outsider art” to benefit students in need.

Warwick Academy will showcase self-taught and amateur art from Monday, with 100 per cent of proceeds going to its student bursary fund.

More than 50 artists have given artwork to the cause, with an additional donation from artist Will Collieson.

A school spokeswoman said the pandemic and its restrictions had prompted many to the arts as “a way to pass the time, relieve stress and discover hidden talents”.

She added: “Our diverse collection of art consists of handcrafted pieces, sewing pieces, furniture, paintings, woodwork, photography and personal artistic expressions created in any media our donors wished to make as they lend their support to the Student Bursary.

Last year Warwick Academy’s bursaries helped 172 families.

The online auction, from noon on Monday through noon on June 22, can be found online here.

It can also be viewed via the school’s social media platforms or by e-mailing develop@warwick.bm for the link to the online platform.
