Butterfield increases 2022 scholarship amount
Applications are now open for Butterfield’s Bermuda Undergraduate Scholarship award, which has been increased by $5,000 to $30,000.
The scholarship is tenable for up to four academic years and provides financial assistance to outstanding students who are pursuing a first college or university degree on a full-time basis overseas.
Offered every year since 1978 in honour of Butterfield’s late chairman, Sir Harry D. Butterfield, the criteria for selection includes academic excellence, community involvement and sporting attainments, financial need and a candidate’s demonstrated ability to lead.
Eligible students are invited to apply via the Bermuda Scholarships website.
Andrew Burns, Butterfield’s group head of human resources, said: “The Bermuda scholarship is one we are particularly proud of as it has been running for more than four decades and we are pleased to ensure it maintains its appeal by increasing the financial reward. It is testament to Butterfield’s continued commitment to support our local community and invest in its future.”
He added: “Later this year, we will also be recruiting for graduate trainees and our summer student employment programme, both of which provide young people in Bermuda an opportunity to gain professional experience and build industry connections as they look to progress their careers.”
