No place like Buffalo for Dill
Terence Dill and his Buffalo Stampede have run out to a 6-3 record to hold down third place in the Atlantic Coast Professional Basketball League (ACPBL) after bouncing back form a road loss to Garden State to beat Hudson Valley last weekend. The Stampede are one game behind the Garden State Rebels and Norfolk Tur Hoopz Trailblazers, who both have identical 7-2 records. For Dill, who has had played minimally as he tries to get over several niggling injuries, it was his first road trip in his fledgling career. And while he admitted it was an experience in itself travelling to other US cities, he was adamant that there was “no place like Buffalo” where the team enjoy a healthy fan base.“We are 6-3, so it has been a good season thus far and we are in third place at the moment,” said Dill.“In our last outing we rebounded from a road loss with a good win, so we are in a good mood heading into our next game at home.“I haven’t seen the court much due to minor injuries and setbacks but I’m still contributing as much as I can.“We were travelling on the road after playing our first few games at home and for me I’ve never been on a road trip so it is an experience in itself.“There is no city like Buffalo though, we went to New Jersey and we had more fans then they did so we are definitely the team that people come to watch.“Our fans are great and they help us which is important as well.”Dill feels right at home in Buffalo, and while he is yet to make his mark in the league he is confident his time will come now that the club have recruited two new signings to help him down in the paint.“It is great to get out of the city every now and then but we are certainly trying to put our foot in the door as the team of the league,” said Dill.“We have our moments where we go back to the first game of the season, but for the most part we have good unity and court cohesion.“Our style is more than run and gun than half court, and we just recruited two new big men to help me out on the inside so I can now play the four spot instead of the five spot.“All in all I’m am enjoying the experience.”The Stampede take on the New York Lions on Saturday –before travelling to New York for a reverse fixture and the same opponents on Saturday, February 26.
