Woods to coach the Lady Cats proramme
Erica Woods, one of Bermuda’s top women’s basketball players, has agreed to coach the Wolfpack “Lady Cats” programme.
Woods, a former NCAA Division I player with Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, won a bronze medal for Bermuda at the 2007 NatWest Island Games in Greece and represented Great Britain’s Under-20 Women’s Olympic development team at the European Championships in 2009.
Charles Peters, the head of Wolfpack Hoops said that Woods was a highly experienced player and coach and had a great track record of giving back to the community.
“While attending Marshall she visited hospital patients, participated in a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, and volunteered at Marshall Sweetheart Clinics for young girls,” Peters said.
“Erica was an academic scholar and standout athlete during her university years and is the type of mentor that our young ladies need in Bermuda.
“Wolfpack Elite is coached exclusively by former college and national team players, which makes us uniquely positioned to advise players who themselves are seeking to play basketball at the next level.”
Joining Woods to coach the Lady Cats Programme is Nicole Crumpler, who graduated in 2004 from Flagler College in St Augustine, Florida.
Crumpler was a member of the Bermuda team that played in the NatWest Island Games in 2005 in Gibraltar, Spain, and Isle of Wight in 2011.
She is also a member of the Bermuda Basketball Association executive committee responsible for women’s basketball, assistant coach of the Bermuda women’s youth ream and assistant coach of the Berkeley High School girls’ team.
The “Lady Cats” elite semester begins on January 17. For more information or to register, contact Wolfpack Hoops at info@wolfpackhoops.com.
