Hurricane players return to Syracuse

The Team Hurricane Basketball Academy have returned to the Jim Boeheim Basketball Camp at the Syracuse University in New York.

The Hurricanes players arrived at the camp on Saturday where they will remain until tomorrow, honing their skills under the tuteledge of top university coaches.

Doug Reed, the Team Hurricane founder and former Syracuse student, said: “I bleed orange and blue and Team Hurricane’s return to my alma mater and its camp provides a continued opportunity to promote the school and the college experience to young people.

“Once again, Team Hurricane players will get a small taste of college life and get a chance to stay in the dorms and walk around the campus. More importantly, they’ll play competitive basketball in one of college basketball’s top venues, the Carrier Dome.

“It is also just another life enriching opportunity that Team Hurricane is able to offer its student-athletes.”

Team Hurricane’s growth over the past year has allowed for 13 players to attend this year’s camp compared to five 12 months ago.

Reed added: “This trip demonstrates the Team Hurricane Basketball Academy’s strength to provide a platform in which student-athletes can train, develop and reach their academic and athletic potential.

“This camp will provide Team Hurricane players the opportunity to learn the game the same way the renowned Syracuse University Orange squad is coached and will, in the process, help the sport of basketball grow in Bermuda.”
