Kevin Stephens steals the show in basketball league
Kevin Stephens registered impressive numbers for Chargers after leading his team to a 59-48 triumph over Caesar's Pharmacy the Answer in the Bermuda Basketball League.
Stephens scored 18 points, had six rebounds, five steals and four assists to walk away with the MVP accolade in the encounter at The Berkeley Institute Gymnasium.
It was the second win of the season for Chargers, who are third in the seven-team league.
Stephens attributed his team’s success to a good rearguard and maintaining composure.
“It was a good win for our squad,” he said. “We played a solid team with size and spot up shooters.
“However, we pulled away with the victory due to our defence down the stretch and staying composed.”
Meanwhile, Kings stretched their lead at the top of the standings after getting points from their forfeited match against Wolfpack.
The league made a return last month after being halted after two rounds in November. and Joshua Nesbitt, the BBA vice-president in charge of the league, indicated that the season was picking up momentum.
In the Bermuda Youth Basketball All-Star Division, Bulldogs are now on top after defeating Cobras 40-29 at Mount Saint Agnes Academy Gymnasium on Saturday.
