BSX holds steady

Butterfield Bank’s preference shares rose 1.2 percent in trading on the Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.The eight percent shares, issued initially to investors in 2009 for $1,000 apiece, rose $15 to $1,220, as 26 shares traded.Butterfield’s common shares were also actively traded, as 7,400 changed hands, but the price remain unchanged at $1.20.The only other domestic board issue to trade was Watlington waterworks Ltd, which held steady on $11 after 2,000 shares were exchanged.The Royal Gazette/BSX Index ended the day unchanged on 1,117.21. Volume was 9.426 shares and turnover topped $62,800.The BSX Insurance Index rose two points, or 0.2 percent, to close on 1,021.
