Butterfield gains 3%
Butterfield Bank shares rose three percent last week to lead The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange Index to gains.The bank gained four cents over the five days of trading, as more than 259,000 shares changed hands, to close on $1.34.Telecommunications group KeyTech Ltd also advanced, climbing 15 cents, or 2.5 percent to $6.15, as 18,589 shares were exchanged.Fellow utilities company Ascendant Group Ltd fell five cents, or 0.4 percent, to $14.05, as 5,100 shares traded.Insurer BF&M, which announced net earnings of $17.3 million for 2010 last week, was actively traded with 7,316 shares changing hands, but it finished the week where it started, on $14.60.Bermuda Commercial Bank stayed on $10.75, as more than 2,000 shares traded in the week that it announced a $1.35 million profit for the six months through March.The Royal Gazette / BSX Index rose 19.44 points to close the week on 1,179.91. Volume was more than 293,500 shares and turnover topped $678,000.
