Butterfield Bank shares hit the $1.40 mark yesterday to help drive the Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange Index higher.The bank closed two cents up on the trading of 35,900 shares and has climbed 12 percent this year to date.Insurer BF&M Ltd also made gains, climbing 25 cents to $14.85, as 3,500 of its shares changed hands.The Index climbed 11.31 points, or 0.9 percent, to close the day on 1,199.21.Trading volume and turnover totalled 39,400 shares worth BD$102,066 and 20,473 shares worth US$205,992.90 transacted.
