Butterfield gains 1.4%

Butterfield Bank shares rose 1.4 percent yesterday, propelling The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange Index higher.
The bank gained two cents to close on $1.42 as 7,727 shares changed hands.
Ascendant Group Ltd, the owner of Belco, fell 50 cents, or 4.8 percent, reversing its gain from Wednesday’s trading and closing at $10, as 5,000 shares traded.
The only other BSX domestic-board company to trade was KeyTech Ltd, which fell five cents, or 0.8 percent, to close on $5.95, as 2,200 shares changed hands.
The Index gained 4.49 points, or 0.39 percent, to close on 1,161.04. The BSX Insurance Index of the Island’s leading international re/insurance companies fell 11 points, or 0.76 percent, to finish the day on 1,431.26.
