Shares of Butterfield Bank rose 3.4 percent on a light trading day at the Bermuda Stock Exchange.

Butterfield rose five cents to $1.50, as 6,500 of its shares changed hands.

The Royal Gazette / BSX Index climbed 23.6 points, or 2.01 percent, to close the day on 1,196.29.

Insurers Argus and BF&M each saw trading activity but their share prices remained unchanged.

The BSX Insurance Index fell 2.1 points, or 0.15 percent, to close on 1,428.57.
