Ascendant bounces back

Ascendant Group Ltd bounced back with an eight per cent gain in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading on Christmas Eve.
In the last day of trading before the Christmas Day and Boxing Day holidays, Ascendant, the owner of electricity company Belco, gained 40 cents to close the day on $5.40, as 4,300 shares changed hands.
The only other stock to trade was Butterfield Bank, which fell one cent, or 0.5 per cent, to close on $1.99, as 133,980 shares were exchanged.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index fell 1.25 points, or 0.09 per cent, to close on 1,354.12. Volume totalled 138,280 shares, while turnover was just shy of $290,000.
The BSX Insurance Index gained 12.28 points, or 0.8 per cent, to close on 1,545.77.
