Ascendant and bank shares fall

A total of 6,612 shares worth $30,254 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX.
Ascendant, the parent company of power firm Belco, saw 4,700 shares exchanged, sending its price down 20 cents (3.4 per cent) at $5.60.
And 1,912 Bank of Butterfield shares changed hands, leaving shares at $2.00, down 10 cents (4.8 per cent) on the day.
The Royal Gazette/BSX closed down 48.94 points (3.44 per cent) at 1,383.16.
The BSX Insurance Index closed up 10.85 points (0.69 per cent) at 1,577.46.
