The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 2.4 points, or 0.2 per cent, at 1,181.05.

One hundred Bank of Butterfield preference shares traded, moving the share price up $25 to $1,075.

And 2,500 shares of insurance firm Argus moved, with the share price up 12 cents at $3.75.

The BSX Insurance Index closed down 23.83 points, or 1.44 per cent, at 1,636.08.
