Shares of Butterfield Bank improved by 75 cents, or 2.7 per cent, to $28.75 after 1,611 were traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index. On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank’s shares fell 24 cents, or 0.81 per cent, to close at $29.28.

On the local exchange, Argus Group edged up five cents, or 1.1 per cent, to $4.60 after 3,500 changed hands.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 34.73 points, or 1.96 per cent, at 1,809.11. The BSX Insurance Index rose 9.51 points, or 0.56 per cent, to 1,708.92.
