Butterfield Bank shares rose 55 cents, or 2 per cent, to $28.30 after 6,000 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank’s shares also improved, rising $1.05, or 3.78 per cent, to $28.80 after 105,929 changed hands.

Shares of Polaris Holding edged five cents higher, or 1.3 per cent, to $4.05 after 20,000 were traded on the local exchange. There was also trading in shares of Devonshire Industries, Argus Group, BF&M, KeyTech and Ascendant Group, but with no change to the closing prices.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index rose 24.8 points, or 1.4 per cent, to 1,797.43. The value of shares traded was $424,172.

The BSX Insurance Index was down 8.62 points, or 0.5 per cent, at 1,710.9.
