BSX closes the year 47% up

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed the trading year with a gain of 47.5 per cent.
The index fell 4 points yesterday to end 2016 on 1,923.79 — up an impressive 619.73 points over the past 12 months.
The only domestic-board stock to trade on the BSX’s last trading day of the year was insurer Argus Group Holdings Ltd, which fell 20 cents, or 4.3 per cent, as 3,000 shares changed hands.
Among international companies listed on the BSX, 156 shares of HSBC Holdings plc were traded, as the bank fell 20 cents, or 2.46 per cent, to close on $7.90.
Butterfield Bank closed the day unchanged on $31.30, while on the New York Stock Exchange its shares fell 27 cents, or 0.85 per cent, to close on $31.44.
