The Bank of Butterfield today rose 50 cents to $32.50 in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The 1.6 per cent move came as 3,078 shares moved.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the bank rose 90 cents, or 2.76 per cent, to $33.50.

Utilities firm Ascendant lost 30 cents, or 4 per cent, falling to $7.20 as 9,794 shares sold.

Telecoms company One Communications remained at $2.50 as 8,400 shares changed hands.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 19.59 points, or 1 per cent, at 1,980.54.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day up 24.57 points, or 1.3 per cent, at 1,891.04.
