The Bermuda Stock Exchange has picked up a top award from an international finance sector magazine.

The accolade of “most outstanding offshore stock exchange” was given to the BSX by Acquisition International magazine.

Jonathan Miles, editor of AI, said: “Through these awards, AI magazine is working to showcase the work of businesses and individuals at the top of their game, getting an inside look at how they go above and beyond for their clients time and time again while at the same time pushing the boundaries of what has previously been thought possible for firms in their industry.”

Mr Miles added that honouring top performers such as the BSX is done through a rigorous selection process from the magazine’s in-house award specialists.

He said: “The team left no stone unturned to ensure that every one of the chosen firms was selected based on proven performance over the past 12 months, guaranteeing that all the award recipients were chosen purely on merit and can take pride in the knowledge that they truly deserve their place among this year’s esteemed winners.”

Greg Wojciechowski, chief executive officer of the BSX, said: “The exchange is honoured to be recognised for its achievements.

“This award speaks volumes to the dedication and hard work of our small team of dedicated professionals and the Bermuda Stock Exchange reputation globally.”

The award, alongside others, was announced in AI’s 2016 Global Excellence Awards supplement published last month in London.

The supplement features a two-page article on the BSX and highlighted the BSX’s position as a leading market for the listing of insurance-linked securities.

Launched last year, the AI global Excellence Awards recognise and reward the firms and individuals whose commitment to sustained outstanding performance has seen them leading the way, not only in their own sector or industry, but across the world.
