The Bank of Butterfield today rose 85 cents to $31.85 on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

The 2.7 per cent move came as 3,000 shares traded.

Utilities firm Ascendant Group was unchanged at $8.50 after 10,400 shares changed hands.

On the New York Stock Exchange, Bank of Butterfield was up 7 cents or 0.22 per cent at $32.19, before the bank announced a first-quarter profit of $35.9 million tonight.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 38.23 points, or 1.98 per cent, at 1,973.17.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day up 16.72 points, or 0.9 per cent, at 1,873.80.
