Shares of energy utility Ascendant Group, the parent of Belco, improved by 25 cents, or 3 per cent, to $8.50 after 17,300 traded.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed at 2,043.76, up 2.41 points, or 0.12 per cent.

On the New York Stock Exchange, shares of Butterfield Bank were down six cents, or 0.18 per cent, at $33.30.

The BSX Insurance Index ended up 10.2 points at 1,859.58.

The Bermuda Stock Exchange will be closed on Wednesday to mark Bermuda Day, and will reopen as normal on Thursday.
