Utilities group Ascendant jumped $1.44 to $8.95 on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

The rise, equal to 19.2 per cent, came after 2,000 shares traded.

The Bank of Butterfield went up 50 cents, or 1.5 per cent, to $34 after 1,439 shares moved.

Insurance firm Argus dropped five cents, or 1.2 per cent, to $4.20 after 3,300 shares changed hands.

Fellow insurer BF&M remained at $21 after 600 shares sold.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the Bank of Butterfield went up five cents, or 0.14 per cent, to $34.87.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed up 35.38 points, or 1.75 per cent, at 2,057.31.

The BSX Insurance Index ended the day down 5.25 points, or 0.27 per cent, at 1,926.79.
