Ascendant Group shares improved by 10 cents, or 1.1 per cent, to $8.99 after 2,000 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

Also being traded were 200 shares of Butterfield Bank, and 9,058 shares of BF&M. However, both those stocks remained unchanged.

On the New York Stock Exchange, Butterfield Bank shares were down 52 cents, or 1.5 per cent, at $34.26.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was up 0.96 points, or 0.05 per cent, at 2,063.45.

The BSX Insurance Index closed down 31.19 points, or 1.64 per cent, at 1,875.1
