Somers Limited was one of three stocks that closed lower on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

Somers was down 25 cents, or 1.9 per cent, at $13.25 after 2,300 of its shares traded.

Ascendant Group slipped 10 cents, or 1.1 per cent, to $8.89 after 949 shares were exchanged.

HSBC Holdings fell 10 cents, or 1.01 per cent, to $9.80 after 548 shares changed hands.

There was also trading of One Communications Ltd, with 2,500 shares being exchanged, but with no change to the closing price.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was down 2.63 points, or 0.13 per cent, at 2,049.94.

On the New York Stock Exchange, shares of Butterfield Bank rose by one cent, or 0.03 per cent, to $34.53.

The BSX Insurance Index was down 6.18 points, or 0.32 per cent, at 1,907.37.
